change a 6 courses oud to a 7 courses?
hello everybody!
I would like to take one of my oud and restore it (change the face and the bracing) and I was thinking of changing it into a 7 courses oud
is there a big différence in the wideness of the neck between a 6 and 7 course oud? or is it possible to keep the same neck?
thanks a lot!
ps: my oud is a turkish, 58.5cm

I think you will find it too tight to keep the same neck.
also you will have to make a new pegbox so might as well make a new neck.

Hi Stos!
I have changed one of my 6 course oud to 7. And I am very happy with it (I'll try to post pictures)..
And I am no oud maker..
But it depends on your oud:
1- Fixed or floating bridge?
2- How many pegs does it have?
Best of luck
The wood might be dead, but the oud is alive.
