Simon Shaheen sings Muwashah Mahtiali
We're all familiar with Simon Shaheen the instrumentalist, but I would gamble that not many are familiar with Simon Shaheen the singer. Here is a
recording of Simon playing oud and singing Muwashah Mahtiali accompanied by his ensemble, including Najib Shaheen on bass oud and chorus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qXg27sM0iQ

He has a great voice.
I am not a fan of certain traditional male voices in Arabic music. There is a certain timbre that I'm not fond of, but nevertheless Simon Shaheen's
voice doesn't have it, and yet retains the baritone sound I think male Arabic singing calls for. I enjoyed!

Thanks, this is wonderful! any chance anyone has any information on the song? (lyrics/score...)
I am trying to learn the piece by ear from the video, usually i find it extremely difficult but there is not too much ornamentation in this
performance.
