My Faruk Turunz RD arabic gets better and better :)
Hello Lads!
This is my first Saturday night studying session of 2015. Fortunately I have nice and easy going neighbours
I am studying a Samai Muhayyer Kurdi by Sadi Islay (which I transposed in A).
I don't know why but the video is uploading very bad tonight, but audio is ok.
I have this Turunz reduced price arabic oud since may, and comparing this video with the first ones, I notice that the sound is getting better and
better (even if the strings are quite old and overstressed).
If you like 58.50 cm ouds, buy this one
Happy new year to everybody!!

Strings
I think that the kurschner strings that it came with were wonderful. I have since replaced them with a set of ozten strings I bought in Turkey. They
are also very nice. What are you using?

If I may enter the conversation, on my Faruk Turunz Turkish oud I have used Ozten, Kurschner made by Ozsten (from some years back), Pyramid lute, and
MusiCaravan. The Ozten and Kurschner strings sounded good but had a short life. The Pyramid lute sounded at least as good and had a very long life.
The MusiCaravan strings sound the best in my opinion but I don't yet know how long they will last. After a month they show no sign of wear. They are
not expensive. I have not been satisfied with the treble strings of any of these brands (both nylon and pvf) on this particular oud (they are good on
other ouds). Right now I'm using Savarez Alliance KF, their own secret formula similar to pvf. I like these very much.

Yes, online. MusiCaravan strings can be gotten from the MusiCaravan website : http://www.musicaravan.com.
Brian Prunka at Oudstrings.com sometimes carries them.

I get Savarez Alliance KF strings from Strings By Mail.

My oud is arabic, and I use arabic tuning in C, playing with medium-hard horn risha. SO, for me the original strings were not good at all. The action
also was too low (but I adjusted it putting the strings a little bit higher). Now I use LABELLA arabic. They come with additional high ff which I
don't use. I really like these strings; they are very good and they last a lot of time. The tension is medium-high. I ordered a customised set of
Labella string from oudstrings.com to get a slighty higher tension and I am waiting for them
