Abdu George Nahat for sale
Hello,
I'm selling my Abdu George Nahat oud.
I've been owning this oud since about 25 years.
It's in great condition, ready to be played.
The original french polish has been very slightly sanded to remove scratches and renewed.
Pegs are new, due to old and from different origins ones.
Strings length 64cm.
There's no precise date on it, but Iyad Haymour supposed it should have been made around 1920.
I ve been putting for sale this oud 4 years ago, but took it off.
The action issue has been fixed.
The reason of it was the lack of stiffness of the neck, so in order to keep the look of it and to make it stronger, the fingerboard has been
stratified with polyester resin from almost zero from the nut to 2,5mm to the sound board.
It makes look the wood of the fingerboard darker in that area.
Playability is now perfect, and you will hear the quality of the sound on the recording.
Even with an Iphone 4 recording, one can hear the quality of the sound.
i made this recording about 2 years ago when i used to play it a lot.
I've been playing turkish ouds since that time, so i could make a new recording, but my technique is different now and not really adapted to arabic
ouds.
I will let it go for no less than 6000€.
It comes with a custom hard case.
I'm living in Essaouira/Morocco, there are many cheap flights from a lot of destinations. it would be much better to pick it up in person rather than
sending it for such a valuable instrument.
I prefer contacts via email rather than U2U.

Looks and sounds great, though I hear much more convincing trebles than basses of this monster.
Closeups of the FB, rosette, pickguard and it's surrounding, label and profile shot of the bowl would be very much appreciated.
There are great deals on flights FROM Morocco also, aren't there ?
Thank you
Yours indeed

Just for fun, I looked into flights from NYC . . . not sure we have the same idea of "cheap".
Of course, I'm not the target audience for this sale, either.
Glad to see the pegs put to good use.
Best of luck!

Wow, I would love to try a 64 cm string length Oud!! I didn't know such a length for Oud existed. I have heard of 63 cm...

Finally it's not a big difference from other ouds, think about the length of tar, setar, baglama, tambur and many other instruments. One gets used to
it very quickly, specially if you've played other instruments.
