Turkish Oud. Nice bass tone!
Hello everybody!
I'm selling my first oud because I have an other from ramazan and lately I need some money...
So, this oud is my first instrument I bought from istanbul in 2008. Same year Tassos Theodorakis from thessaloniki changed the soundboard for a better
one from german spruce.
In the meantime I changed the keys for ebony ones.
Last year, a friend Luthier from Mytilini Antonis Mylonas, made the braces a bit more thinner (really nice change) and changed the long fingerboard
for a shorted one
--> this occured to damage the surface of the soundboard just under the long fingerboard where it was glued. So he cutted a piece of german spruce
and fitted in place of the former long fingerboard.
It is esthetically almost invisible (see photo) and nothing changed in one year of playing again. Seems the change went smoothly!
so the features are :
Body : palissander
Soundboard : german spruce
fingerboard : ebony
keys : ebony
It is tuned now almost two years in D G a d g c, and it suits the oud very good.
No buzzes. String action more high than on most turkish oud but I like a lot, more arabic tone. I will measure the string action and post it here.
I will do until next week a little video also.
Oud is in Greece, in Athens
Price is 550 euros.
Thanks a lot!
