no-name Moroccan oud

A friend of mine is selling his Moroccan oud, bought there from a working player. It sounds fine to me: nice and clear, good action, tunes easily and stays in tune. It's been tensioned up for a few years and nothing has gone wrong. Very simple appearance, rather like this:

No rosettes, but also no maker's label inside. That seems a bit odd. What does it imply, if anything?

I'm still rather attached to my old Syrian oud - darker and murkier sound with a lot more quirks but I've come to like its idiosyncrasies. Do I need two? I dunno.

If it sounds good, then why not!

But, what's unique about Moroccan Ouds in general? Do they have different tuning or scale?

Onwards and upwards

It's unusually plain. The soundboard has been varnished, which I wouldn't have expected in something as spartan and functional. There isn't anything otherwise distinctive about the design.
