Question about Song/Maqam Into (Fraghum Bachani/ فراگهم بچاني)
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to find the music sheet or the notes for the intro of this song, and I wonder if anyone can help with that.
The song is famous Iraqi song, and I found the notes for that but not the intro

Ahalan, Ya Humam,
I listened to both the oud/guitar and qanun recordings. The intro you are talking about is, I think, a "dulab." Dawalib (pl.) are set/composed
introductions that are used in Arabic music. A dulab in a particular maqam could be used for ANY song in that maqam. My sense of Iraqi "chalgi
Baghdadi" music is that these dawalib are actually specifically composed and unique for each song.
This particular dulab in in Bayyati, and is played once in the oud/guitar version, and twice (more typical practice) in the qanoun recording. This
particular dulab is 7 (seven) bars long. The oud player ornaments it fairly significantly, while the qanounist played it "straight" the first time,
and ornamented (and up an octave) the second time.
This is the kind of piece that I would normally try to brow-beat my students into learning by ear, but, since you were generous enough to post a score
of the song, I am posting my (very basic) transcription of the dulab. I did not try to transcribe any of the oud or qanoun players' "lazimah"
(embellishments).
