Unusual stringing situation
This video appears to show an oud with the bass string at the bottom. Is this an idiosyncrasy of this particular player (Omar Bashir), or is it another tuning variation that's more broadly used?

Used to be widespread. Yekta described it as the Turkish standard 100 years ago. My 1971 Syrian oud came that way.
