Bedrosian ouds

While reading another thread here, I came across the name Bedrosian. WHile I am not familiar with this oud maker that much, I have an oud made by him that dates back to 1963. Can anyone tell me the history of the oud maker and its ballpark worth? I will try and take and post a pic within the next few days.

There was a builder in Lebanon by the name of Karabet Der Bedrosian. Is that what your label reads? I don't know the value or the history but I would enjoy seeing your oud.

I have a Garabed Der Bedrosian 1967 oud.

He was actually in Damascus (Syria) not in Lebanon.

What condition is your oud in ? Can you send some pictures ?

My Der Bedrosian has a date of 1959 and is not in good condition. BTW, in Armenian, Der refers to someone who had a priest in the family, father grandfather, the complete last name is Der Bedrosian not just Bedrosian. Thank you, you are correct he was in Syria. My oud reads
Karabet Der Bedrosian
Fabrique de Toutes Sortes
Des Oudes
Damas Zablatani #33

A luthier friend of mine Teoman Kaya together with whom I studied under Murat Sumbuloglu Usta of Kadikoy- Istanbul in 1950ies, states that he saw an oud in Istanbul.Label reads:
Garabed Bedrosyan Sam 1902
'Sam' means Damascus in Turkish The label did not have "Der" . Considering the time span 1902 to 1967 I belive that we are talking to different person. also spelling Bedrosyan in arabic letters was with "y" instead "ia".

Hello Dincer,
Yes you have something there. On the bottom right of my label there is a date of 1909 and on the bottom left 1959. Maybe they were related since they were both from Syria and both oud makers, seems like a strong possiblity. The Der could have been dropped by the father and later added by the son, if indeed it was father and son.
BTW, I enjoy your site and passed it on to my good neighbor Turgay of the CD "Turkish Village Music".
