Abu Salim Arbeely Oud
This is a sweet little oud built by Boston-based luthier Abu Salim Arbeely in the 1940s or perhaps 1930s. Very little is known about this maker, but
the oud has a very nice, authentic Arabic sound, and is quite light and playable.
I purchased it at an antique store in Hudson, NY four years ago, and had it restored by Najib Shaheen here in New York City. Najib converted it from
10 to 11 strings for the contemporary six courses most of us prefer.
I am asking $1K plus shipping. I will wait a week or see to see if this post generates interest before listing on eBay.
