Ammar El Sherie & Ammar El Sherie Play "Touta"

This clip, I'm guessing around 1980, is retro greatness. It comes from a time when mixing two pictures into one was something too cool not to exploit. I guess it's similar to the YouTubers now that show themselves playing various instruments at the same time to create a recording. Anyways, this is probably the best "Touta" cover ever made.

One oud but two different suits of clothes! I love it.

Gotta love it. And despite the fact he shows absolutely no emotion during the shoot, his arrangements are always creative and fun, and that's what matters.

The point of the two images of him is to emphasize that he recorded two ouds over each other. I've thought a lot about doing this myself. Have you tried it?

Besides oud, he also layers in some what sounds like a bouzouki. It adds a nice finishing touch with its sharp and audible tone. I think this bouzouki separates this cover from others.

I haven't tried it. One of me is all I can deal with :-)
