Searching a luthier
Hi fellow oudies,
my JT-signature-oud from Veyssel Saricous buzzes like hell!
It comes definitely from inside the bowl, so it looks like I need a luthier to fix it.
After Matthias Wagner sadly passed away last year, i have no idea where to find a expirienced luthier.
I live in southern germany.
Does anybody know a luthier/oudmaker who can help?
Any suggestion is apptreciated!
Cheers
Markus

Hello Markus,
I can strongly recommend Michael Sander: https://www.feinegitarren.de/
His workshop is in Wiesloch, not far from you (and even nearer to my home). His focus is on guitars and historical lutes, but he has already fixed
ouds as well. I had a loose fingerboard once, good work. He also fixed the joint neck and inserted a pickup into a floating bridge oud, which Matthias
Wagner could not finish anymore, sadly.
Second option would be Renatus Lechner, also guitar and lutes: https://lautenbau.de/
As far as I know, he currently works on unfinished ouds from Matthias Wagner, they knew each other well.
Grüße / Greetings,
Ralf

For ouds in southern Germany I would go to Sebastian Stenzel, experienced oud-maker: https://www.stenzel-guitars.de

Hi Doc,
you are right.... Sebastian is a experienced oudmaker, he makes beautyfull instruments.
But when I take a look on the price and waitinglist (>1 year) for new ouds I doubt he make repairs.
Thank you for the reply anyway.
Cheers

hello
i don't know much about luthier in Germany, but for sure Sebastian Stenzel. Worth at least asking ?
By the way i had this kind of problem recently, took me a while to realize it was simply the rosette which unglued very discreetly from the
soundboard. Not fully but just a small part of it which was enough to make buzzing +++. And it was very simple to solve it.
Did you checked this on your oud before of thinking of an unglued brace or so ?
Best of luck
