The Oud’s history (high probability based on newspaper article)
In 1933 a Turkish rug merchant moved his family to America. While enroute a daughter was born, Clarise Zadegian. A couple of years after landing and
living in New York, Mr. Zadegian took his oud to be repaired. Oud was repaired by Paul Papazian, Bronx, New York, on Oct 12,1935, Papazian put his
repair label is inside the oud’s bowl.
Miss Zadegian became a professional dancer, hence the reason there was a newspaper article. After her passing, in the late 1990’s I purchased he
estate, which included this oud.
In 2019 I had the oud repaired by Richard Hankey (Dr Oud) He worked on the neck and the pegbox. Dr. Oud’s assessment on request.
