Tuning a 12-string oud
Hi,
I recently got my first oud ( I also have no prior expierience with any other string intrument) and noticed it had 12 strings, all double courses.
Most videos I've seen use a 11 string oud with the one base drone. Seeing as my oud has all its strings doubled, is the tuning different than on the
11 string?
And would it be fine if I took out one string + peg to make it 11 strings?

Hi Melbous,
Those are usually made for Ff tuning, where the high F is double instead of single. You can definitely remove the last peg (or not use it) for typical
11 string tuning.
