Gut strings what Diameter?

Hello friends,

I am thinking about to buy gut strings for my Mourad el Turky Oud I tried so far many brands and what I liked the most on this Oud was a mix of 2 brands aquila for the basses and pyramid for the trebles you say in English? Anyway I don't want to buy something wrong and destroy the instrument it's new and sound wise the best I had so far! Thank you all for the help in advance.

Hi Issamo,

You can use this calculator to figure out your diameters:

https://www.niskanenlutes.com/index.php?p=stringcalc

Put your scale at 62 cm and enter your tuning +desired tension. The calculator will give you gut diameters. You can put in info of your existing strings to see what the tension is and use the same tension for gut strings.
