I've been learning this well known composition by master Alinaqi Vaziri !
Does anyone know if this piece would be classified as a Reng or Chahar-mezrab, or maybe some other established form in Persian classical music? It has
a strong 123,123 feel in the timing, maybe 3/4 or 6/8
It may not fit into these as Ostad Vaziri was something of an innovator and genre-blender. Just curious!

Hi Chris,
Nice piece to select, certainly challenging as well. As you said it yourself, Vaziri pieces have a category of their own and don't quite fit within
traditional boundaries.This piece sounds somewhere between a Reng and a Chahar-Mezrab.

The liner notes of one recording I have call it "an instrumental" so you're in good company. Maybe its category is "none of the above". The title
seems to indicate a girl with messy hair. It's in the Uncombed Category maybe.
Does anyone know what that oud is? Good appearance and sound!

Woooow that ?elpe version is amazing! Although i think the notes are a bit more like hijaz kar than chahar-gah, maybe the 2nd and 6th koron notes are
either flatter in his region than Iran proper. I believe it was Ostad Vaziri who evenly divided the octave into perfect quartertones and came up with
the score marks to transcribe persian microtones!
