Etud #2 by Sherif Muhiddin Targan
Hey guys, here's another tribute to the great ud player/composer Serif Muhiddin Targan.
It just blows my mind that people so long ago 'thought' like this on the oud.
I hope you like it, it's one of my favorite compositions by him. Very Western.
Enjoy

basheer were two of his students.
anyone rememebr the old thread when we talked about him, if it is posible, can anyone of u (Mike, mavrothis, or TP21) post the files from that

Hi Elrabee. Yeah, that was a great conversation. I think it's lost though. Oh well. Check this out though, here is the Kapris, a composition
by Targan played by Dr. Munir Nurettin Beken. (makam ferahfeza)

Beken is absolutely one of the most talented players (and composers) in the world, and it's so cool I think to hear this completely different
take on the oud.
I think his album "The Art of the Turkish Oud" is another cd any oud player should have. I love that guy
Anyway, I hope you like it and by the way, check this link that Mike gave me and listen to this guy play (totally different from Targan or Beken, he
is Syrian):

Hey fellas,
Mr. Targan was something else. He was very creative. The piece you posted Mavro is all over the map man. And fast too. Must be hard to play! And yes, unfortunately that old thread was lost. But I have the Beken CD,
and hopefully I'll put a track or two as the featrued MP3 soon.
Take care,
Mike

No problem guys. I updated the MP3 Page. Beken is really excellent. It is interesting to listen to him playing these pieces, and then listen to
them played by Arabic style oud players.

Mike
