El Gohari

Hello All
I'm amazed that I didn't come across any body talking about
El Gohari. An Egyptian oud maker who made ouds in the 40s. Last summer when I was in Cairo there was one for sale at the price of 2000USD. I asked the young man if I can play it. He said to me ''Beware that once you play this oud you can never play another''. He passed me the oud it looked very old and it felt extremely light like no other oud I have ever held. The sound was un believable you really have to play it to believe it. I couldn't let go of the oud, you immediately feel that it was the oud you have been looking for all your life. I was stupid enough no to snatch it. Well I guess I was scared of my wife who prefers spending on furniture. If anyone can tell me more about the maker and his ouds that would be nice.
