compositions for oud and guitar duet
You may be surprised by this, but Mel Bay doesn't publish a book for oud and guitar! Surprising
Does anyone know of notated music for oud and classical guitar duos?
Thanks,
Chris

Marcel Khalife's book 'Oud' might have some oud/guitar duets, i remember it had duets, but don't remember if they
were with guitar.

Charbel Rouhana's oud method includes a sonata by Filippo Gragnani arranged for an oud and guitar duo (16 pages of notation).

I found the book on maqam.com for $25, not a bad price. I wonder how expensive shipping would be though, I will look into it.
I'm going to be working on an Oud/Guitar duet next semester in my composition lessons. I'll keep you guys posted on it if it amounts to anything
worth hearing.

There is a very nice album of George Mgrdichian playing Armenian songs on the oud with a guitar accompaniment. It's called "George Mgrdichian on the
Oud." I don't think it was widely distributed when it was issued some twenty-five years ago, but it's among his best recordings. Beautiful pieces very
tastefully done.

Sounds awesome minstrel. Did you buy the book? I plan on buying it but probably not until after the holidays. I'd be interested in your take on it
if you get it.
You should post a pdf of your arrangement if possible. What was the piece orignally for? My knowledge of guitar repertoire stops with the big guys
like Tarrega and Carcassi. Do you study classical guitar formally?

Yup, I bought the book. I'll let you know my thoughts on it when it arrives. As for "Koyunbaba", it was originally written for guitar solo.
Domeniconi was heavily influenced by Turkish music. If you get a chance, check out Bill Kanengiser's "Echoes of the Old World" there's some
really great stuff on it. See

I studied guitar, lute, and violin for years, and then the oud came along.....now I'm a one-woman man

I had a chance to see a master class by Kanengiser this past semester. He's by far the best classical guitarist I've ever seen in person. I study
double bass, the oud is so tempting though.

Khalife book
I just received the book today!
~214 pages of various compositions for oud and many other instruments (and yes, 2 for oud and guitar). I've sight-read a couple of pieces and they
sound pretty good - considering I'm transposing to Turkish tuning and am a fairly novice player.... If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to email them the table of contents.
Regards,
Chris

Sounds cool. Have you had a chance to play the oud/guitar pieces with someone yet? I will probably order the book soon, I've wanted it for a long
time
