This sequence of intervals is shared by several maqams. The more common ones would be Hijazkar and Hijaz (a variant of maqam Hijaz has a Hijaz
pentachord followed by a Hijaz tetrachord). Hijazkar is usually played in C and Hijaz in D, so if you transpose the scale you have half a step and a
step and a half higher that will give you the more familiar presentation of the scales of Hijazkar and Hijaz. Other maqams with this scale include
Suzidil and Shadaraban. The melodic features of the song could help identify which one of these maqams the song is in. Which Umm Kulthum song is it?

Well, I know Shams Al-Assil, Essal Rou7ak, and Ana Fi Intizarak (beautiful Song!) all use this maqam...maqam Higaz kar.

hi,
thanks for that!!! I think it's more Shadaraban, but anyways you will probably better know than me. The song is Ana Fentizarak by Om Kalsoum, near
the end.
thanks again!
