I'd love to hear some soundclips of the oud

I invite you guys with electric ouds to try these amps http://www.acousticimg.com/index2.html

I have been using one for electric and upright bass for around a year and a half now and couldn't be happier. Without a doubt the most transparent amp I have ever used. The fact that you can have a 300w amp weighing less than 6lb doesn't hurt either!

I think this amp you are talking about is more expensive than the oud it self.

Check my amp.

I got for about AU$350

Here is how it sounds - quick one

The Clarus amp can be had for around $400 used, which is what I paid. Money well spent in my opinion.

That oud sounds very good. I had always worried that a solid body electric oud would sound somethin like a fretless guitar but this sounds very authentic.

The electronics have been tuned properly by Emad Iam shure thats why you can hear a e-oud that sounds true. I think that having real pegs instead of guitar tuning pegs helps keep that oud feel and sound. I dunno how you feel about that but to me there's something a little too perfect about the machine pegs they sometimes use its usualy noticable in my opinion. It makes it sound sort of guitarish I find.

Sounds as an acoustic oud. How has been recorded? My E-Oud sounds like piezo.

Jason,

What speakers do you team the Clarus with?

Hi,

I connected the E-oud to the amp and recorded through the microphone to the PC sound card line in. Or you can also connect the amp to the PC sound card line in but you may risk blowing up the sound card if you allowed hi sound volume in.

You will get a very poor sound if you connect the oud to the PC. Is that how you did it? ask for help if you need ... all yours.

Good luck

Greg, I currently use two Aguilar 1x12 cabs. http://www.aguilaramp.com/

They are nice cabs and fairly light, around 40lb. Another company you could check out is http://www.euphonicaudio.com/
I think the EA cabs would be a little more transparent than the Aguilar.

Another good one would be http://www.raezers-edge.com/
A lot of big time jazz guitarists use acoustic image heads with raezers edge cabs.

When I was at NAMM I saw Mr. Najarian play a set and I believe he was using a Bergantino cab. I could be wrong, it may have been the bass player playing through it. Then again they both could have been playing through it, it was the only cab I saw.

I could go on all day about this stuff haha

I'm not sure what's happening with Raezer's edge . . . the maker was killed by his son. Is the compoany still making them?
They are great cabinets, though. I have a 1x12 that weighs about 25 pounds or something like that. I really want one of the small ones, like 1x8. They are unbelievable and weigh around 15 pounds.
In NY, getting to gigs on subways/buses, that's about the limit of what's practical. carrying it 10 blocks and you feel every extra pound . . .

Acoustic image are great amps, but they are sort of pricey. Walter Woods are great too (what I'm using), but forget about trying to get one--the waiting list is impossible.
On the cheaper end, I had very good results with an SWR strawberry blonde acoustic amp.

A WW user calling a AI's expensive? :) You're right about them though, I frequent a bass forum and when a WW comes up for sale it never lasts a day before it's sold and it doesn't really matter about the price. Are you using your gear for oud or guitar, Brian?

I'll be in NYC for the first time this coming May. I'd love to hear some oud playing. I'll have to contact you before I leave and see if you know about any upcoming concerts

Hi Mourad,

I think there is a mistake on your oud.If you send it back to me,I can install a new Artec piezo under the bridge of your oud amd you will satisfy with the sound.

With best wishes.

It was meant as a compliment as well
if this is realy a e-oud in the soundfile;)

dear haluk
it is a nice offer, thank you but
i have installed a new shadow SH 095 for the bass-strings
two weeks ago (the original-one was out of order... now it works)
and i don't want to send my e-oud to turkey

i think the bigest trouble with the sound comes from the 3 peaces of plastic
maybe they don't have the right size. and maybe its better to get the bridge in one peace. are you using the same material now if not can you send me a new/another bridge inlay

regards
mourad
