Hepsi Yalandir
Can you give a little more information about the song? The phrase "Hepsi Yalandir" means "It's all a lie". It could be in many songs. The performer's
name maybe?

I had a look at Turkuler.com, where you can find turkish folk music notes. I checked for the song you mentioned, but couldn't find it. Perhaps the name is
different?

hi guys,
thanks for your responses...this song is on my teacher Al Bardezbanian's album...its the first track. also, i heard it on a 'bootlegged' live
recording with Richard Hagopian and the Kef Time band. its a beautiful tune and i learned it but i cannot pick out the lyrics in the live
recording...i think maybe neyzen could be right and the tune goes unders another name. i'll keep looking and thanks again...let me know if you find
anything!
take care,
amos

Hi Amos,
This was also on a Richie Berberian album from years ago -- do you know him ?? Since he sang it he may be able to get you the lyrics. I'll dig the
album out and see if it's got any contact info. I'l edit this message with the info.
Cheers..PaulO

Hepsi Yalandir
Ok. I give up. I even went to my ultimate source for old songs (my dad) and came up empty
The last thing I can think of is, maybe listening to someone sing the song and try to make out words. One bit of warning though. The way American
Armenian musicians sing Turkish, is not always very understandable
Most of them don't even speak Turkish very well. They just memorize the words. Sort of the way I sing Arabic. I first make sure no one in the audience
understands Arabic, before I attempt to sing one
Let me know Amos.

Udi Mike

Mr. Oud,
I think it is meant not to be understood because they just fake it. I know for sure though Harry Bedrossian sings Turkish. Armenians I know are not
the only ones to fake it though. I know of an Arabic oud player who sings in Armenian, Turkish, Arabic and Greek but it is all jiberish but he is well
liked and a real good performer. I'm sure we all know of performers who fake knowing the words, yes even in their own ethnic language. Amos, I will
probably see my good neighbor and friend Turgay this week I'll see what he can come up with.

hi andy,
do you mean Turgay Ertuk? I have performed with him up here in maine a few times...what a great guy and a wonderful performer! we played 2 Kef Night
performances up here, in different ensembles so I wonder if he remembers me...if you remind him of the guy that played oud and Indian tabla, he
might...
any help would be great!
take care,
amos

Yes Amos you are correct that is Turgay Erturk, I will mention you to him because. He knows a lot of songs and he has helped many with the words to
Turkish songs. I will ask him about your song.

Found It!
This has been bugging me. I had some live tapes of Richard Hagopian doing it, but I knew I had a 78 of it somewhere.
Don 't know why I couldn't think of it, but here it is: Marko Melkon, Hepsi Yalandir. From my collection of extra scratchy 78s
To my knowledge, this has not been re-issued, not even on those great Traditional Crossroads cds.
Nishan Sedefjian on violin, probably?
