Hi,
while the Ens Morkos is doing muwashshat, their style isn't really andalusian. Fantastic all the same!

muwashahat is andalusian , because the muwashshat came from al andalus , so you can't separate them from each other
and you can't find muwashahat that is not andalusi
so that's why we call it "muwashahat andalusia" in arabic language
sorry i had to correct your information

Alaakahla,
A brief comment about your statement on muwashshahat:
The muwashshah as a form of strophic poetry was indeed first created in Islamic Spain, or al-Andalus (in the 10th century). But the muwashshah songs,
which took muwashshah poems and set them to melody, were composed in many places outside al-Andalus. Most of the muwashshahat we know today were
actually composed in North Africa and the Middle East after Muslim Spain had ceased to exist. Aleppo, for instance, was one major center for the
composition of muwhashsahat in the last two-three centuries, and in that sense it kept this genre of Arabic song alive. But the songs composed in
Syria reflect the melodic, modal, and rhythmic features characteristic of the music of the Mashriq, not of Islamic Spain. These songs are called
muwashshahat andalusiyya, but this should not be understood to mean that they were composed in al-Andalus or replicate the musical styles typical of
medieval Spain.
It would be good for all of us to follow Mike's request posted on the front page of the forums.

Alaa,
Asking for the password is an indication that you are encouraging an act of piracy. Salahudin, and with all due respect, should not have posted a link
to copyrighted material. However, having posted it, we should not seek the link.
Mike's emphasis on the main board, and other's elsewhere, is that we should encourage the different artists through purchasing their productions.
It is hence that this thread, the one for professional sound clips, is left only to very rare items, or material that the artists kindly volunteer to
share with us.
There's an unnoticed main thread called "CD Reviews". It provides a useful venue where every one can provide a commentary on CDs they like, and also
describe how they came about purchasing these items.
Regards,
Hamid

It is wonderfull to see how the andalusian culture has nowadays fingerprint in the whole arabic world.
Here we feel very proud of this, but for respect and historical memory we must separate Andalucia (al-andalus) from Spain.
Actually this can be offensive to any andalusian people because Spain means the end of al-andalus and an attempt of cultural degradation that is
deeply sad.
I know this is a music forum, but I felt I had to add this small historic note.
Thank you and very much love and peace to all!

As far as I can tell, the name Spain drives from the word "Hispania", which is the name that the Romans gave to the Iberian peninsula. Their presence
in the peninsula predates that of the Muslims by around 900 years, so the term "Muslim (or Islamic) Spain" seems quite appropriate.
