Kayseri Turkish ouds
This is a long shot, but I am hoping that some of you might be able to help.
I am trying to learn more about ouds from the Kayseri (Gessaria) region of Turkey from approximately 1920, and earlier. I am interested in the names
of these makers, or any pictures. Turks, Armenians, Greeks, Jews--anybody who made ouds in this area from that time period, and especially earlier.
In particular, if anybody knows anything about ouds made in the Develi area (Evereg and Fennesse), please let me know.
Many of you may know of the string factory that was located there. I know that there were ouds made in the region, too, of course.
I wish we had a good source of info on oud makers. Is there one?
Tesekkur Ederim.

Thank you.
Yes, Cengiz Sarikus does know a lot about the history of the oud in Turkey--that is a very good idea.
I have actually purchased a couple of instruments from him, and am very happy with them.

I got an email from Cengiz Sarikus, with a lot of information. This guy really is a class act. He is very knowledgable about the development of the
oud, and in particular the Turkish oud.
I have purchased a couple of ouds from him in the past, and he has been a pleasure to deal with. Honest, and friendly. And an incredible selection
of antique ouds.
If anybody is interested, here is his site:

He has some great new pictures posted, one of a heavily decorated Manol (1909).
Very nice!
