Turkish ouds can easily be tuned as Arabic ouds. I do it all the time. I suggest installing heavier gauge strings though. Strings usually become like spaghetti when you detune them :)

Hello,
Since someone mentioned Turkish ouds with arabic tuning. Can someone please explain why turkish oud buzz when tuned in arabic. Does the length of the finger board have a relation to it? Also can anyone suggest good arabic tuning and strings brandname for a turkish oud. Thank you

If you use regular Aquila brand they should be ok because they have already a high tension to them so it should be a good try.
The problem is the tension. I dont think you could do it with strings made for turkish tuning it would be way to loose.

Good advice Samir.
The standard Aquila Arabic string set is PERFECT tension for the turkish scale length of 58.5 cm. (Arabic tuning).
