Nut question

Hi guys,
I am sure that this issue was discussed before in the forums.
Here is my problem:
Some strings (low A,D)started to buz in my oud due to some nut wear. Any idea how to replace it?
Would appreciate your help.
Best regards,
Hatem

I've had some goings with nuts, and some members of this forum kindly helped me with pointers and advice.

http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=3454

There's a possibility that the action is a bit too low. If that's the case, slightly elevating the nut using a very thin card board. SamirCanada suggested that an action of 1mm at the nut should be fine.

In the thread above, Elie kindly provided some pointers on how to shape a nut.

Hope this helps.

Amatha,

Thank you very much for the reply. You are right. The action is low and I need to raise it somehow.
Best regards,
Hatem
