Concert in Istanbul (October 17)

Thanks to Mike and the moderators for allowing me to share with you a concert I'm playing next Tuesday in Kadiköy/Istanbul. If you're in town, would love to see you there! It's an oud intensive event, as I'm performing an hour of solo music in obscure makams, ranging from old ilahis to contemporary Turkish classical to deyis music from around Anatolia. For the second set, I will be joined by my friends Sean on darbukka and Sam on clarinet. Compared to most venues in Istanbul, the sound will be barely amplified, so the noise sensitive among you need not worry.

Whoa, Eliot! Thanks like "taking coals to Newcastle"! You must be seriously shredding these days! It may be years until I get back to Turkey. When do you expect to return to the US, i.e., when will I have the pleasure of hearing you live again?

All the best,
Udi John
