Just want to tell you that there is 2 "Wissam J(o)ubran". And the one who play in this film isn't Wissam Joubran, the luthier and member of the
excellent group "Le trio Joubran". You can make the difference in the way to write their names :
Wissam Jubran (who play few seconds in this film) and
Wissam Joubran (luthier and member of "Le trio Joubran"):

If I tell you that, it's because there is a HUGE DIFFRERENCE between the 2. According to me, you can't compare the high quality and virtuosity of
Wissam JOUBRAN's way to play with what we see in this film (the other jubran). Wissam JOUBRAN and his 2 brothers Samir and Adnan are just amazing and
incredible musicians!
Or else the film is nice.

Yes DoReMi, yes, i knew, that is why i wrote.... "a" Wissam Joubran, with the indefinite article before Wissam, to refer to a particular member of a
group or class, in this case to refer to the group of Wissam Joubran oudists.
If you go to this previous link in Mike's ouds forum you will discover another Wissam Joubran, also fm Nazareth

The name and forenames are the same for these three oudists, it is just the french or english spelling which changes (Joubran for frenchs, Jubran for
english).
If anybody knows on a 4th Wissam Joubran, pls advise here.

Thanks for this precisions Zalzal. Sometimes my english isn't enough good to understand some nuances like "a". I know that their names are exactly the
same in arabic and as you said, it's a matter of transcription in western writing but I think I can tell that the Joubran brothers have a preference
for this way of transcription (jOUbran, like it's written on each of their cds and websites and knowing also that they live in France).
PS : If I heard about a fourth Joubran, I'll let you know!

Joubran is a common last name in the levant. There is a Joubran family in Ramallah, no musicians I dont think.
And of course the ever great Khalil Joubran, the poet from Lebanon.

And Kamilya Joubran, the singer and oudist woman, whose brother Khaled Joubran is an oudist and whose father was an oudmaker.
BTW, i think Joubran comes fm arabic jbr, which means to be an expert, to have experience and Joubran means experienced, skillfulled. The names they
have match perfectly all those tremendous artists.
