Marcel Khalife's oud
Hey guys,
Anyone have any info on Marcel Khalife's ouds. I've been watching his dvd lately, and he seems to prefer ouds with a floating bridge. The
tone is amazing, very clear. However, I it doesn't sound like a typical Bashir oud (with a 57 cm string length). I am wondering if his have
longer lengths?

Marcel's buy his Bashir ouds from Yaroub Fadel. The only maker that knowes what he's doing. Ask Yaroub directly about string length. Is not
only the string lenght but also the shape of the bowl changes the sound and also the wood.

I used Bashir oud made by Yaroub (with a big help from Ronny) Its a masterpiece!Its just sad that I have to let it go now...

You mentioned bout watching Marcel DVD showing him a lot with the Bashir Oud-is it the Traveler (on maqam.com) DVD?

Yes, that's the dvd. There is a lot of footage of Marcel playing the oud. I highly recommend this dvd

They are just clips of Marcel jamming on his oud in a life performance. But most of the video is Marcel playing the oud with minimal accompimement
(in other words, you hear the oud). There is some dialogue and commentary. but the dvd is like 200 min long. There is a lot of oud playing on this
dvd.
