An Amazing Honor

Hi everyone,
It is with deep honor and pride that i show you all some pictures of my new oud made by Peter Kyvelos. This oud belonged to my teacher and friend, the late oud master Al Gardner Bardezbanian. Al performed on the oud often, and it has an indescribably sweet and perfect tone. It was made in 1977. I am honored and completely amazed that this oud has come into my posession through the consideration, generosity, and thoughtfulness of Al's wife and his longtime friend Peter Kyvelos. I will post some pics, with more to come if necessary, as well as a sound clip.

I love you Al! We all miss you!

Regards everyone,
Amos

Congratulations Amos, I hope you will always play this very special oud with health and joy.

It's a beautiful thing that the family decided to give it to you, who will surely put it to great use.

:)

Take care,

mavrothis

thank you everyone very much for your kind a supportive words. here is a short clip of the oud. i can't make it sing like Al did, nobody ever could, but here is the first taksim i have recorded on this beautiful instrument. i am still feeling shaky about playing it, as Al's presence feels so strong in the oud, and i feel a great sense of responsibility even holding it in my hands.
some of my intonation is a bit off on the recording, but i just wanted everyone to here how lovely this oud sounds.
thanks again everyone,
amos
