shalom, im new here..and have a question
first off shalom aleichem/salaam alaikum to all.
second Jameel i saw your second oud post all i got to say is WOW. 
u are the man!
i was speechless.
i have a question
i obviously have no time to build an oud as it is but wanted to practice playing, we (family) come from a spanish classical guitar style of playing,
but i wanted to play oud, flip things up a bit.
so of course $2000-3000 is waaaaay out of my price range as it is.
was wondering what do you all think of something like this for a beginner like myself?

Welcome to the forums, Contra.
If you want an oud to hang on the wall, that's the instrument for you 
There are several better options, but you will need to spend a little more than the US$252.50 (inc. shipping) that the seller is asking for this
item.
At the low end of the price market, you would do well to consider a learner-oud from Haluk Eraydin. Do a forums' search on "Haluk" and you will find
many references to the man and the quality of his instruments.
Some forum members have also had success with the inexpensive ouds from Yehia of the Nile Shop.

I would suggest you avoid the heavily inlaid ouds.
Apart from those options, you will probably need to spend upwards of $600 to get an instrument that is worthy of your time.

Hello,
I bought this oud a few months back to learn how to play. I would say it is a good instrument for a beginner who doesn't know if they will continue
or not. For this it has served its purpose, and it also has beautiful inlay. Maybe other members with more experience can help.

My advice is to buy the best oud you can reasonably afford. If you buy something low quality, you will become frustrated with it quickly. I think
some oud students lose interest because their instrument is really unplayable.
Are you Israeli? If you go there, there are a couple of good oud builders, the best known of which is Joubran in Nazareth. I called Joubran in 2000
and talked to him; he needed about 1 month advance notice to build an instrument for me.
You will always get a better deal going to the country where the oud is made...

The ouds made by Joubran are very good quality.
But very much expensive for a beginner.
I met him in june in France. I think the lower price is about 2000 euros
(2600 USD). I'm not sure. I don't remember precisely.
I agree with John : buy the best quality in your budget. You'll never regret it.

thanks guys,
so i guess the truly only best one for my pocket would be Haluk's then,
which seems pretty good ($375, plus $25 for the tuning pegs)
for a beginner.
I cant wait, im getting some stuff sold on ebay,
and then will be able to order one from him....

Its egyptian made, and the bowl on the oud i recieved was indian rosewood+ fingerboard+ ebony pegs. its a great instrument for the price, nice

yes i would love to hear some sound samples,i wont guarantee you i will immediately hear the difference between it and a bad oud, like when i listen
to the differences between mixing boards and samplers(since i am a producer/engineer by nature) but i would just like to vibe off of it seeif it hits
the frequencies etc etc. but i digress.

Hey Hamed,
How do you like the case that came with that oud? I was thinking of buying one to carry my oud in. I don't need anything heavy duty for airline
travel or anything, just something to protect it from bumps

to Jason. That case is pretty cheap, Its thick cardboard wrapped in leather, and its big, so you'll need to but some bubble wrap in it to keep your
oud from sliding around+ the handle is small, there is not much space for yore fingers. other than that it does the trick.
