Humidifier?
The violin player that I met today has "humidifier". Does anybody use it for oud?

I live in Sourthern California, where we often have a weather condition called a Santa Ana (like simoom) that is a dry wind from the east. Earlier
this year, the humidity outside my house was less than 3%, and I live less than a mile from the ocean.
I use a humidifier in the case of my good oud (this one from Kyser http://www.kysermusical.com/product.php?productid=16154&cat=254... ) This is designed to fit into a guitar's soundhole, but I added velcro so that I could put it in the bottom of my hard case.

Hey Marina,
I was told a while back by a guitarist..That no matter what the instrument..If it has wood..There is a chance of warping and detiorating if not using
corrective maintanance..In other words any wood gets thirsty and retains water..Some woods absorb more than others..But if no water is absorbed and
your Instrument has weather changes from hot to cold or vice versa..there is a chance of warping and other stuff..But this is on the long run
ofcourse..I always use a Large Instrument Humidifier with my Ouds..You can view one in my listing..The lst picture down shows the box and the
humidiifer next to the pick...I hope this help's..See ya.

A search in the forum for humidity, humidifiers and de-humidifiers will bring up some threads that discussed this issue.
The general advice was - maintain a humidity of 50%. This means that the oud is comfortable when we're comfortable. :-)
