need help, what strings you use with yours Ghadbans ouds?

hi all :wavey:

please, give me advice. i want to change old strings on new on my Ghadban oud. usually i used 'pyramid turkish set' or 'la bella 11 string set(with Rihard Hagopian foto on back)' with my turkish oud and syrian Anwar Kubeh oud(scale length is ~60cm, DGAdgc). but when i try use 'pyramid turkish set' on my Ghadban oud(scale lenght is 58.5cm, FADgcf) i has felt that a pressure has increased, and one string G even has bursted. i remove turkish set and now use old strings(i think it was 'pyramid orange set(arabic)',but i do not know for certain). and La Bella strings are thicker than Turkish Pyramid set, i afraid to damage oud if i use La Bella.

i would like to use FADgcf tuning on Ghadban oud, what strings you can will advise me to use?

Whether i can use any 'turkish sets' (pyramid, la bella) with FADgcf tuning? (in Russia very difficult to get others strings :( )

What strings and tunings you use with your Ghadban's ouds or other ouds with scale lenght 58,5cm?

thank's :wavey:

Try Aquila low tention sets and get the ff' strings separetly. I have them on my oud now and that is what Nazih is stringing his new ouds with.

http://www.khalafouds.com

you can get them here.

I don't think Turkish strings were ever meant for F A d g c' f' tuning

Turkish tuning is any one of these (from Mavrothis' http://www.oudcafe.com)

E A B e a d
C# F# B e a d
D A B e a d
D G B e a d

See how the courses are being increased at 1 1/2 steps. So what you did was tune even higher than turkish tuning on an arabic oud. NO, please don't even tune an arabic oud to turkish either, that can damage the oud.

You need to use regular arabic strings (disregard the single bass), so use only the F A d g c' and get a seperate f' string like Samir said above. YOu can also buy a set from LaBella that is for the F A d g c' f' tuning.

I didn't like Aquila strings at all on ghadban ouds. The best strings i liked are Pyramid lute strings but they're expensive !

I am using D'Addario on my Ghadban at the moment. The tensions are great (I don't like them too high), and they sound great.
