switching ouds

Hi gang,
First off, thanks for the wealth of knowlege! I've learned more lurking around this forum for the last couple days than previous 4 years of oud ownership.
My oud is an Ahmed Abd'el Halim, looking very similar to the one played by Ahmed Kassem here: http://www.mikeouds.com/audio/mb/yemen_tv2.rm
There are a few problems with it, namely peg slippage and with the type of strings that came with it; (tuned D G A d g c) the A course is too loose and has floppy, buzzy tone. I keep in mind that it is very, very dry where I live (Calgary, Canada). The pegs are not top quality, a bit rough finish with black stain. The spruce soundboard has a laquer finish. Now that I've spent time on this amazing forum, I would replace the pegs and the strings, and attempt to remove the laquer on the face.
The thing is.. I've just bought a Sukar electric oud from eBay (it hasn't arrived yet) and agreed to sell my Ahmed Abd'el Halim oud to my friend Nikos for CDN$400. It wasn't an easy decision. What's your opinion? Is it a mistake? Am I under-valuing.. over-valuing?
At least it's staying "in the family" so to speak. I'm going to help Nick with putting new strings and pegs on anyways..
As for the Sukar electric.. I can't wait to play it. Keep in mind that I love classical but intend to perform in a fusion project, similar in some ways to "DuOud". I'll be running it through a Pod XT Live. Can't wait.
Anyways, thank you wonderful people so much, and look forward to much more knowlege and music from Mike's Oud forum.
