Welcome in the oud community my friend! Egyptian and Iraqi ouds are different in dimension, shape, decoration and tuning. Egyptian ouds are usually a
little bigger, with longer vibrating string lenght (usually between 60 and 61.5 cm long) a fixed bridge and five or six courses, usually tuned (from
low to high) (C)FADgc. Iraqi ones have a shorter string lenght (57 - 58.5 cm), a floating bridge (also called Bashir style), six courses and a
different tuning (FADgcf). Tunings can be different from country to country and depending on the maqams you have to play the bass stings (drones) can
be tuned differently. Usually the highest strings are tuned in progressive intervals of fourhts. Hope to be helpfull, ciao ciao, Peppeo.
