Yemeni oud sound
I like the sound of this oud and playing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrd-Vu3SlFQ
There are many more and fresh clips made by him.
And youtube viewers are not the only one to see it. You feel also an audience behind the camera listening at and enjoying (even a bay talked in one of
the clips).
See also the shamsiyyat, distributed asymetrically, more or less like Riadho3ud did in his last oud.
The label i can distinguish is arabic but could't read it well.
Would like to know who built the oud.

I like the Yemeni oud style very much, and, because there was once a large Jewish community in Yemen, I have the opportunity to play a fair number of
Yemeni-Jewish songs.
I would describe Yemeni oud style as being relatively "busy" and "filled in." This may be because much of Yemeni traditional music is performed with
just oud and percussion. When I play Yemeni (Jewish) songs ("Eshal El-hai," "HaAderet W'Emunah," etc.) I mimic the style by playing very "busy" with
my right hand and using a lot of open strings.
There is a great free site for Yemeni music: http://azaalcity.com/yemenmusic.htm (unfortunately only in Arabic)
My favorite is Fuad Al-Kibsy (فؤاد الكبسي
This is a site with Yemenite-Jewish music, religious chants, photos, etc.: http://www.chayas.com/musical.htm#temani
Peace,
Udi John

The Message Board blew up the Arabic words I tried to post and won't let me post it as a JPEG image. For you non-readers of Arabic, to get to Fuad
Al-Kibsy's music on azaalcity.com, from the link posted in my previous message, click on the 6th name from the top in the far left column.
Peace,
Udi John

Zalzal, I think the oud is made by Salmeen wich are the most popular oud makers in the gulf. The pickgard and the orange coulor in the label is what
makes me think this.
Time for some Ahwa Turki

Although I love Turkish (and Arabic) coffee with cardamom ("hel"), I am a tea drinker (coffee is hard on my stomach).
