An impressive talent!

Dear friends,

Check out the latest addition to my collection from the Green Tunis

http://new.photos.yahoo.com/hatem_afandi/album/576460762388319296

This oud was built by a real talented luthier, Mr. Baghdadi El Hananfi

Below is a link to a video by his impressive teacher (unfortunately, I don't know his name).

I got to know know Mr. Baghdadi during the process. I was really impressed with his decent personality. He was a pleasure to deal with.

Salamaat,

Hatem

I had the first oud he made, it was a nice well built but sound was not so good. The soundboard was very thick but I have heard his instruments are improved a lot! I belive he followed Richards oud construction book for his first oud! Not a bad start.

Best wishes

Ronny

Hi Hatem_Afandi, alf mabrouk on your new oud! I was just wondering, what kind of wood did Mr. Baghdadi use on your bowl?

Thanks, SamirCanada, for your comments. I believe that this is the last one I would get as my limit is 5 ouds!!!!!

Ronny, Obviously, you did not download the video. It does address your comments. However, you raise an interesting issue about buying an oud from online. IT IS ALWAYS a risk. That's why I find it important to ensure that good luthiers are credited somehow.
After my trip to Abu Dhabi, I came to the conclusion that some luthiers and ouds are overstated. I say this with no further elaboration!

Samzayed, Good question. I do apologize for not mentioning the wood used:
The bowl is African Bubbinga and Cherry Wood, the fingerboard and the pegs are made of Ebony.
Best regards,

Hatem

P.S.
Hey Samir, If you read my Fagoumi post, I hope you can help. You are a talented oudist ,and probably, will do fine. Do me a favor and think about it!
