Oud Blues Quintet

Brian Nadav from Philadelphia:

"I have been working on some original music, shining a new light on the Oud, bridging middle eastern music with the blues. I find many similarities between these styles, the bend in the blues is closley related to the quatertones or microtones that are easily played on the Oud"

And he continues:
"When i first began experimenting with the Oud, having no knowledge of Maqmat (Arabic/middle eastern modal system) a bluesy sound emerged."

More or less like Attab Haddad

who says
“Flamenco’s like a bridge between the West and the Middle East."

sorry. I aint feeling Brian. Thats the "hippy" thing I was talking about in an earlier post. He can use the word Maqam all he wants- there is no relationship to them what so ever. Actually, this kinda thing really annoys me.
