Peg Dope or Chalk?

I was wondering what you guys use on your pegs?
Peg dope? What kind/brand?
What type of chalk?
I have a local buddy who is quite good on the oud, he uses chalk on his pegs...

Does anyone know what the difference is in the effect of dope vs chalk?

use peg dope. Chalk may fix slipping pegs, but is not good if they stick. The peg dope has the right mixture to make the pegs set snug without sticking. I like the Hill crayon, found at any music store.

Couldn't find any reference to Holl - I think you meant Hill Peg Dope. Here's some info on applying it (for violinists):

Hope that's helpful!
