LONDON CALLING...
Hello Guys...
I am trying to find Oud players and indeed any other Muscians that play middle eastern instruments in the fair old city of London England...
It would be nice to make a music community over here with a view to meeting, playing, sharing ideas, and performing...
I work in a rehearsal / recording studio in the east end so it would be pretty easy for me to arrange a meeting / practice space..
Who knows..if it got big enough then perhaps we could try to arrange some master classes / workshops aswell
So..If anybody is out there..drop a line....

I am up North in rainy Manchester, and hardly in London but I do know there are many oud players in London probably not part of Mike's community but
do exsit.

Hi All,
I'm in Haarlem, Netherlands really nearby to Amsterdam. And that of course is just a skip over the water from London where I know I don't head over
too often but maybe some of you make the trip to here?
Similarly if there are oud/ud players here it would be great to get together. Seems there's not too many of us.
Ashley it's great you are putting this out there. You can really make something happen.

Thanks for you comments and lets hope that by putting this out there we can get some kind of northern european oud gang going! ...
Leon I will send u a U2U asap..Adam I would love to come over to Amsterdam anyway, and an Oud playing friend of mine lives just a few hours over the
border in Germany so perhaps one day we could all meet up and have a jam..
Awad! If you know of any Oud players in London who wouldnt mind me getting in touch with them Pleeeeeeeease let me know..It would be especially great
to meet Turkish/Armenian style players but just meeting anybody would be fantastic!..So far, in a city of 10 million people I know of only 5 or so Oud
players including myself lol..and I am sure this cant be right!

Hey, I'm from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Which is less than an hour from Amsterdam, which is just a skip over the water from London - as Adam aptly
put it.
I know of 1 oud player in my city, and that is including me. So I think it's very nice to have a get-together sometime.

Yes it would be great a Central-North Europe Oud meeting
I live in Düsseldorf so it is not so big deal .Only a couple of hours

I am super energetic at the moment, found a cool job and getting back to playing outi...but seeing as there are hardly any outistas in this city I am

You could try contacting SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in central London, get in touch with the music dept, they have oud players come
and go and an Arabic music dept.

Yes Samir,
Ahmed Mukhtar is based in London teaches oud and he have students from all over the Uk, and he runs a music program on the Arabic chanel ALMUSTAGILA,
I have been in contact with him in the past and met him in concert once, great musician and very down to earth guy and very helpfull.

Oud community in London seems to be very thin on the groud. Would be great to set something up. Anyone else from round here?

I am in Surrey Quays, south east London. It's weird how few oud shops or outlets there are in this city [I think I've found one so far]. Very few oud
players too from what I can see.
