Savarez strings now available
Just though I'd let everybody know that I now have in stock sets of Savrarez strings that I assembled from their Early Period Instrument Strings.
These are Savarez's equivalent of Pyramid lute strings. They are NOT the typical oud strings packed under their purple label. These are high quality
strings intended for lute, vihuela, baroque guitar, etc.
The plains are rectified nylon with a sweet and ringing tone, and the wounds are wrapped in copper for a warmer tone than silver wound.
I'm currently using this set on my #3 sandwich top oud. They are excellent.
I assembled this set at 35N tension (medium) CFAdgc tuning (you can tune up the two lower courses to D and G with no problem) at 61cm scale. This set
will work very well on a variety of ouds.
Price is $35, quite a bit lower than Pyramids, and every bit as good.
I should also mention that Adel Salameh uses these same strings on all his ouds, including several Nahats.
