Turkish Oud case

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is somewhere in America I can buy a Turkish oud case like this:
http://www.anatolia-store.com/p/67/oud-hard-case/
or this:
http://www.oudsukar.com/en/products_accesories_en.php# (model #94)

That anatolia Store has a really good price, but add the shipping from Turkey ($80) and it is not such a good price any more.

Please let me know. Thanks,

Dustin

Cooper,
I have one and would be willing to sell it to you for $150 (that includes shipping). I live in the States. Let me know if you are interested.

Be careful of this case because the curve of the peghead of the oud has to EXACTLY match the curve of the case or it will not fit. I bought one thinking it would fit one of my 5 ouds. It didn't fit any of them! D.L.

If you order hard case with oud inside of it the price will be affordable.
Haluk selling same hard case $110.
Good luck.

I was thinking of getting a Turkish oud, but my teacher has just gotten a Shehata oud ( http://www.nileshop.net/store/nileshop_viewItem.asp?idProduct=1030 ), and now I am thinking I might want to get one of those (which has a bigger case obviously). It is really cool because this has 12 strings (the low D or C string is dropped and there is a high F, so it is higher). God, that is a beautiful oud!

I appreciate the advice. There is a place in West Virginia called "Touch the Earth" that sells Turkish oud cases, but just like my bouzouki case it flops to the side when you open it because it is not stable enough (which makes it difficult to place the instrument in and take it out). It would be cool just to make a case were the top comes completely off (and placed back on the case with latches).

All of my Turkish ouds have fit into the oud case that I have. Of course, larger, arabic ouds would not fit into the smaller, Turkish oud cases. While I still have my case for sale, if you really want to get the best bang for your buck, I advise buying a soft oud case. In my opinion, they make carrying my oud around much easier because I just strap it on my back and I'm good to go. Just my 2 cents.

Cooperman:

None of the Turkish ouds I have (4) fit into that case except for the Sandii. It's not the size of the body but the angle of the peghead that determines if the oud will fit into this case or not. I got the exact same case from Lark in The Morning and they warned me that not all ouds will fit into it. They were right. One out of 5 fit. Cool runnings. D.L.

Thanks everyone for that warning. My friend Neal has a problem just like that with his first Arabic oud. He has yet to find a good case that fits it.

Richard Hankey, Dr. Oud has some cases. Viken Najarian makes cases. Jan-Al cases in Los Angeles make a flight case that is practically airline proof. I'm looking into getting some cases made by a guitar case company, hard shell like an old Les Paul case. We
all definitely need good cases. D.L.
