for the Love of Dabkeh
I found this new video of artist Assi Helani.
it shows beutiful scenes of Baalabak Lebanon.
It is very close to my home village and I loved the way they reconstructed the old style dabkeh enviorment.
the filming is wonderful too.
I just wanted to share my love for Dabkeh

enjoy all.
please contribute with nice dabkeh videos if you have some.

I watched this on satellite TV and was going to order the DVD but never had a chance to see it from the beginning.
It is one of the very best video clips to come out of the Middle East. I absolutely loved it.... the dabkeh, the costumes, the music, the mood.
This is the most authentic musical pastiche of traditional village-folk and bedouin styles I have seen to date. I also believe the piece is played in
the Sikah mode.
I encourage anyone who hasn't yet tried Samir's link to sample it for themselves. It is simply traditional Lebanese Arabic music and choreography at
its best and Assi Helani is awesome.

The clip I was thinking of had both a wedding scene and dabkeh music.
If it's with Assi dressed in black bedouin gear and a beautiful bride he dances with at the end, then that clip (with traditional wedding scene and
dabkeh music) may be the one I was actually describing.
(Can't access video links from here)

Now that i can access youtube, yes it's Sout El Heda...my current favorite.
This re-creation looks and sounds authentic in every way imaginable. Love the traditional stuff.
Thanks for posting this gem.
