Got a lot pf string buzz on a cheap oud. Thinking I may have to replace the nut (unless anyone can come up with a better idea). How hgh should the

Hello,
if you stop a string, and it is still buzzing, it does not help changing the nut. The fretboard is not plain, often a problem on cheep instruments.
So there must be some work on the fretboard to make it eaven.

Hi Baldrick,
You have to consider 3 things to solve this problem:
1. The action of the strings "The height of the strings of the FingerBoard or Fretboard.
2. The fingerboard or fretboard should be smoothened the equalized.
3.The height of the Nut, so some time it is lower than Fretboard or fingerboard level, so it produces buzzing.
4. Cheep quality strings and this last thing that you can think about. because even Good Strings help to reduce the buzzing little bit but can not
eliminate the buzzing.
So which one of the 4 points you have problem with?! If you score 4 points, You can solve the problem by throwing the oud away ....
Thanks
