Another Nahat for Sale
Hey everyone. I was searching to see if there were any other Nahat's for sale online, and I came across this:
http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute/miscforsale.html
It has quite a number of pictures that'll show you what it's made of. It's only 3200 euros!! ( I say only because in comparison to the
14K one on the other post, this is only a fraction of the cost... but believe me, it's still quite costly for me.)
If anyone ends up getting interested and buying it, let me know.
What's everyone think of it?

This oud is a nahat oud, I think it was made in the 1980's in Brasil.
However, for professional oud players and collectors, we do not buy any Nahat ouds made after 1959.
The best years of the nahat family were 1920's, 30's,40's and 50's
salamat,

Do you know how to contact the family in Brazil? I want to order an Oud with them.
Thank you

TP,
This is the same one that has been around for abouta year or so. It's also for sale on Pablo's oud site.
Adel,
Could you be more specific about why the Nahats made in Brasil are not as good as the older Nahats? Judging from the photos (a poor method) the
workmanship seems very tight. Have you had the chance to play or see one of these Brasilian Nahats??

Yes, I have seen these kind of ouds and played them, not as good as the original, the deep sound of Nahat is not in these ouds, also they lack the
sustain of the old once.
The finish on these ouds are great.
I will not buy this oud myself.
Good luck,
Adel

Could it be also because the newer ouds have not been played as much as the older ones? Everyone knows that the longer you play an instrument, the
better it becomes...

O YEAH!
Almost forgot, I saw a member of the Nahat family (on the net!) He's around 17, a picture of him is at some Brazilian site... he has a Prtuguese
first name though, , sad to let go of your Middle Eastern heritage like that....
