wow- looks like it's played almost like a cello, or the large bass guitar they use in Mexican Mariachi bands! :)

This has been posted here before. Everybody made fun of the bass oud but I kinda like it.

I think it is better to listen to the beautiful tune composed by Mr. Andre Hajj, called "el masa2" instead of making fun about the bass oud, made by our friend Nazih Ghadban.

Bass oud type instrument called sehrud is common in old Turkish pictures from 16-17th century. Bezmara ensemble uses one. I suppose it can be seen in the several YouTube clips by Bezmara, but I´m not sure it can be heard out of the general ensemble sound.
