1959 OUD FOR SALE
Well, first you will have to post some more and better pictures. You need to resize them to make them smaller. Also, what is the damage that needs
repair? I have a Garabet Der Bedrossian from the 1970's and it was appraised quite high by Nazih Ghadban; $4000-6000 which is too high in my opinion.
That is the range of some Nahats and the Garabet Der Bedrossian ouds do not have that level of stature. The oud is all original and has had all
repairs done and is currently having a neck reset done. For my oud, once I get it back, I think a reasonable price is $2500. That is my guess as a
selling price. If we could see yours it would help.

why are the strings still on???
they seem pretty tight still !!
if anything that did more damage. Thats one of the reason to loosen the strings when shipping it. what could have been a small crack was made worse by
the string tension.

A huge part of the value on something like this is whether or not the face can be saved, and restored.
I am guessing that it could be, but it is a bit hard to tell. At one point, it was a beautiful instrument. Loosen the strings right away. Even if
you have to cut them off--do it. And, if you can, post some more pictures of the face, especially where the damage is. In the first photograph, it
looks like a portion of the face is actually missing. It's not in the "sweet spot", fortunately, and I would hope that somebody would try to splice
in a piece of old spruce rather than replace the face entirely.
I'm not a huge fan of the inlay on the face--that stuff tends to fall off with time and, to me, makes the thing look like a backgammon set, and is
tough to restore once it does start to come loose. But, the bowl is absolutely beautiful.

Hey folks......I sold this item today.....8/21/08........I appreciate everyones kind input....I have learned a great deal about this
