Ya ain mulayatain
I am sorry to start a new topic with a small question, but I am having a hard time figuring out if the song "Ya ain mulayatain" is Turkish or Arabic.
Does anyone know? I got this song off a the CD "Bellydance New York - with Amir Naoum," but since I bought it off of iTunes, I did not get any liner
notes (There is a sample of it on the iTunes store if you want to hear it).
Thanks!

Its a Dabkeh song.
mostly sung by Lebanese singers these days.
Kataftoka... I didnt know it was an Iraqi song. I always thought it was a lebanese dabkeh.

No samir, the song was made popular in LB by Samira toufii2 but originally it's an iraqi folk. Munir Bashir often plays it in his concerts. I used to
have the complete VHS video of this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TE0v4xK-F34&feature=related
in it Bashir plays ya 3en mulayyeteen.
check that-samira tuufi2

The words are even iraqi

Thanks! That is one of the better videos (even with the saz playing midget!).
The other good video of this is the live version. My wife is dancing to the instrumental version of this and was curious about the song.

This version has the very rare and traditional Arab instrument: The Key-Tar!
