20th september Montreal oud meeting
who is down to meet on the 20th of september in montreal?
I think we may be 3 or 4 going so far.
I proposed to meet at cafe Al-Dar on MacKay street.
It is spacious and quiet during the day to meet and play as much as we want.
I am friends with the owner so we would get top class
service.
Any other peeps interested?
so far it would/could be
Kataftoka,
Oudism,
mrkmni,
and myself.

nah we dont know eachother.
your welcome to join if you can make it.
we could make it a whole day thing.
maybe we could see if we could get Ismail fencioglu to give turkish makam lessons.
I think perhaps we could get other advanced players to give a lecture or something.

Also does anyone object to Al-Dar on MacKay?
I am going to call the owner soon enough that way we have the place reserved exclusively for us.

I actually don't wander out past east of St-Urbain.
unless of course you where serious and your thinking of a place but I doubt that seeing the smiley face.
I am going to contact Nizar Tabcharani and Mohamed
from back strings.

Saint-Catherine-saint laurent corner is the hot place in montreal, the bad corner:
backstrings, I know the tabla player, Firas. We used to play toghether in LB restaurants in Montreal. I lost contact with him. I know also Elie
hajjar. Good idea if we can meet with them.

Bravo Samir! - this is an important initiative on your part- worth pursuing if you have the time and energy, even if the initial start is small and
not well attended. Do not feel discouraged as such an event will grow in time.
As you know, I cannot attend this event, as I would have liked to (only as an observer, interested in learning more about the oud) because I have
other (non oud related) commitments with local museums on that day.
So, hope that you will go ahead and develop from here.
Good luck and nice work.
John
