Longa Nahawand
OK, so I taught myself this song yesterday and I've been playing pretty much non-stop
I'm not so comfortable with the song that I can swing it yet.. and I'm completely playing it too slow... I'm guessing another 100- 200 reps and it
will be worked into my muscle memory and I'll be able to do something other than plod through it.
But this was one of the first songs I heard on the Oud and I set it as a milestone to shoot for... And I'm so completely jazzed that I figured it out
that I just had to record and post it...
Here's the link

This is great improvement Chris as compared to asking about how to hold the risha 2 or 3 month ago. You’re progressing rapidly and I guess you're
practicing a lot. Bravo and keep on

Hello Christian.
I'm "working" also on this Longa . I think it's a really good tune as a support to fast playing.
I never know if it sounds better with tremolos on a few long notes. I try to play them, but not each time. I prefer when a tune is never played
exactly the same twice, just to get a free playing and the mind free for expression. But maybe this way is in contradiction with the repetitive ways
to get tunes "in the fingers".
When learning , I do this because I play since many years with stringed instrument, mainly traditional tunes with short themes which need to be
embellish and varied.
I'm a new oudplayer, in my memory I think we began in the same time.
I can't post my mp3 of the tune, I am waiting for a playable oud, the one I play while waiting has a too bad sound to be recorded.
I think we meet the same experiences when learning. With this one probably the fast playing .
It's nice to have an ear on your progress...
Go on practicing, Christian...

Nice job Christian...I remember that this was one of the first tunes I learned on the oud, and I also remember how cool it felt to pick out the notes
for the first time...I have a good listening suggestion for this tune, have you heard George Mgrdichian play it? His version is one of the best I
think and you can use it to learn some new ornamentation.
Keep up the good work, and congratulations on learning a great composition.
Best,
Amos
